The Future's BrightSwansea Muslim Youth League (SMYLe) would like to convey the warmest greeting of the festival of Eid-ul-Fitr to everyone in South Wales.  Eid-ul-Fitr marks the completion of the month of Ramadan, which was more than just a month of fasting: it was a time Muslim made a steadfast commitment to live a better life, playing constructive role in shaping a better and brighter future for all, spending more in charity and helping others.

Eid is also a wonderful occasion, a time of sharing. The Eid prayers represent action, an open show of confidence, humility and thankfulness for everything we have. Unity is a key emphasis of both Ramadan and Eid, as it brings together people from all the corners of the world.  The Prophet Muhammad, may God bless him and grant him peace, made extra sure that no section of society was left out from the occasion and he would issue reminders saying women had as much right as men.  The Eid prayers and celebrations were enjoyed by everyone.

As part of the Eid celebration, SMYLe have launched the videos from its Muslim youth convention, which was held at Swansea’s Dragon hotel prior to Ramadan.  The event highlighted the roles and responsibilities of British Muslims in UK, and echoed the message that being born / bred in Britain we must not forget our British identity. In future years SMYLe anticipates with Swansea’s new Mosque project currently under-way to create a more spacious Mosque and community centre, more and more people across South Wales would be able participate at Eid prayers and celebrations - regardless of race, culture, gender and religious boundaries.
